Tenth Church and IMT Partnership
Most workplaces are not cozy, nurturing environments, especially not for Christians today who have become a minority and often encounter scrutiny, suspicion, and even outright hostility. Therefore, it is very tempting to withdraw and engage in church activities on Sundays while maintaining an inconspicuous profile doing one’s job Monday to Friday.
This seminar prepares one to combine work in the marketplace with pastoral care and ministry with colleagues and employees. This can happen whether the practitioner is the owner or CEO of a business and has direct influence on the organization and its workers or whether you are a worker with a circle of influence small or large in the workplace. Especially significant is ministering in a company or organization that is not a stated Christian company. All followers of Jesus are designated by the Bible as full-time ministers of God. We will be exploring how and why to do this where people spend most of their waking life—in the workplace.
Eugene Peterson, translator of The Message, said, “I’m prepared to contend that the primary location for spiritual formation is the workplace.”
